About Becca G
With vulnerable lyrics and emotive storytelling, Becca G’s music delves into pop and adult contemporary genres, weaving themes of belonging, living in the moment, and embracing life’s ups and downs with a touch of humour. Rooted in her small-town USA upbringing and shaped by her journey of building a life in Canada, her songs bridge the gap between where she came from and where life has taken her. Through personal and reflective lyrics, she explores the ache of longing for home and the peace of finding it wherever she is. Inspired by the resilience and storytelling prowess of Taylor Swift, and the fearless voices of The Chicks, Sarah McLachlan, and Pink, Becca’s songwriting is rich with emotion and meaningful narratives.
Twenty years ago, Becca moved to Canada and built a life with her husband, raising two children and surrounding herself with her beloved pets. With a background in the professional beauty industry, Becca spent years helping women feel confident in their own skin. As a former hairstylist and a founding family member and director of the globally recognized haircare brand Surface Hair, she understood the power of self-expression—whether through fashion, beauty, or music. Now, she channels that same passion into her artistry, using her lyrics to inspire and uplift.
Music and writing poetry have always been a constant in Becca’s life, but it wasn’t until 2019 that she began to rediscover her passion for singing and songwriting. She immersed herself in the craft, studying songwriting and seeking mentorship from industry experts, including Melissa Nygren (founder of Prairie Songstress and member of Rosie & the Riveters), Alyson Reigh (vocal coach and musician), Randy Woods (of the Randy Woods Band), and world-renowned songwriter, author, and Berklee College of Music professor Scarlet Keys.
From performing at a young age to intimate venues like The Underground Café, Becca has always believed in the power of music to connect and heal. As a mother, business owner, and artist continually rediscovering herself, she challenges ageism and self-doubt in the music industry, encouraging others to chase their dreams at any stage of life. Through her music, she creates a safe space where listeners feel seen, find comfort, and are empowered to embrace their own stories.
Now recording her first full-length album with Nolita Studios, Becca continues to hone her craft as she steps into her identity as an artist. She is currently working on her debut album, set to release in 2025.
